Friday, February 24th at Rotary Park, Cranbrook
It has been one year since the Russian military launched an invasion into Ukraine. On February 24th at the Rotary Park in Cranbrook the Shelter held the Anniversary Vigil to commemorate the beginning of the illegal invasion of Ukraine.
Despite the cold weather, the Ukrainian community, volunteers, and Directors of the Shelter for Ukrainian Society got together and lit candles to honor the memory of all who been killed and those fighting in Ukraine. Murray Knipfel, one of the Shelter volunteers played trumpet in recognition of the people who have fought for freedom and are still fighting for freedom. It was very cold outside, but the hearts of Ukrainian newcomers were warm inside as they have received lots of love and support from the beautiful community of Cranbrook. |
